                <description>Have you consumed a slice of pizza, then became lethargic, feeling tired, or joints inflammed? When we eat processed foods packed with refined oils, sugar and chemical additives, our body recognizes that we have made a bad move. Recognizeing the danger, our body mounts an attack, doing its best to eliminate the threat and repair any damage that has been caused. It sends in a full cavalry of red and white blood cells, healing fluids, and reparative proteins.&amp;nbsp;&lt;p&gt;The problem is that many people eat the same inflammatory foods day after day--a doughnut a dn coffee for breakfast, a slice of pizza for lunch, and then a box of mac &amp;amp; cheese for dinner. When this happens the body doesn&#039;t know to call off the attack. A problem that began with inflammation of the gut spreads through the muscles, connective tissues, tendons and ligaments until we feel so bad that we can&#039;t really remember having ever felt any better. While dietary experts disagree about everything from plant verses animal protein, to cholesterol in eggs, everyone knows that fresh, unprocessed fruits and vegetables are non-negotiable. Leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables are particularly valuable, ehtough eating a rainbow of fruits and veggies each day is better. For best results, try consuming a full 2 pounds of fruits and veggies each day beginning with breakfast. This might sound challenging, but the results whill make the effort worth it.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;What&#039;s best to avoid? Processed oils like canola, sunflower and vegetable oils, the processed flours that are bleached and enriched we find on supermarket shelves, sugars, preservatives, stabilizers, artificial flavors and added colors. Processed foods run the gamut including cured, milled, pasteurized, chemically derived and altered. While we might be able to identify junk food as clearly processed this category also includes most refined pastas, breads, sugary cereals, hot dogs, ice cream, french fries and even pizza.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Refined oils are the problem because they are high in omega-6 fatty acids. Ingredients like canola oil are found in everything from potato chips to candy bars and they can wreak havoc on our health. Traditionally our ancestors diet included more omega-3 fatty acids yet the common inflammatory foods that we eat are a breeding ground for inflammation and ultimately disease.&amp;nbsp;You can find more healthy omega-3 rich nutrients in chia and flax seeds, fish, walnuts, tofu, navy beans, brussel sprouts and avocados.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Processed sugars and flours have a high glycemic index, increasing blood glucose which increases insulin production, thus raising inflammation in our bodies. Over time, the consumption of these foods is linked with everything from high blood pressure to diabetes. People who eat processed sugars and flours have been shown to consume an additional 500 calories per day, on average.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Food producers add chemical additives to their products to extend the shelf life beyond a natural expiration date and to make poor-quality foods taste better. Extending the shelf life is a problem as many of the nutrients deterioriate over time.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;By focusing on better food choices we can eliminate the cause of inflammation and pain, solving the problem permanently, ensuring we feel better longer, living our best life more enjoyably.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

Eating for any of those reasons can lead to poor food choices, ppor eating habits, and ultimately, poor digestive function. The first step in improving health of your digestive system is to improve the quality of the food that you put in yor body. The more natural food is the better digested it will be.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: #101010&quot;&gt;2. Relax&amp;nbsp; - In today&#039;s busy world, few people take the time to really enjoy the foods they eat. Instead, it is common to either skip breakfast or grab something quick while running gout the door, eat lunch on the run, and pop a convenient prepackaged dinner in the microwave. Limit portions - Portions are way out of control in our &quot;supersized&quot; society. This is because the processed foods of today are so empty that no matter how much of them people eat thier body is still starving for nutrients and never feels completely satisfied. This explains the intense food cravings that many people experience, cravings that lead to uncontrollable binges. One serious problem with bingeing is the tremendous stress it puts on the entire digestive system - and the rest of the body for that matter. The human stomach has a limited capacity for digestion. Overeating decreases the effectiveness of hydrochloric acid and enzymes, not to mention that the foods most people choose to binge on are processed, nutrient-depleted, junk foods containing hihgh levels of pocessed vegetable oils. Not only do these foods totoally lack any nutitional value, they also rob the body of [much needed] vitamins, minerals and precious enzymes. One of the first things people notice when eating a diet of nutrient-dense foods is that they don&#039;t have to eat as much to feel satisfied, and the uncontrollable cravings go away!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: #101010&quot;&gt;6. Don&#039;t wash your food down - Most of the taste buds in this country have been programmed to enjoy certain foods, especially the denatured ones, with their liquid counterparts, like coffee and a donut, pizza and an ice cold cola, or cookies and a nice tall glass of milk (unfortunately the wong kind of milk [ultra processed]. In fact, a fast-food meal would be incomplete without the half-gallon-sized soft drink to wash it all down with. The problem is that drinking all that liquid wiht meals interferes with the whole digestive process, not to mention all the other problems created by the ingredients in the soft drink. But even if you make conscious decisions about the foods you eat, simply drinking too much water with your meal scan affect you ability to properly breakdown your food. Drinking too much liquid with meals dilutes the concentration of hydrochloric acid and enzymes needed for proper digestion. So to get the most out of the foods you eat, it is best to avoid drinking lots of liquids 20-30 minutes before and after your meals. (If you take supplements or any other pills with food, try to use no more than 4-6 ounces of water to swallow them.)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: #101010&quot;&gt;7.
